Playa Matapalo (Hog Hole) Surf Spot Guide
This is a great wave! This very consistent wave breaks with swell from the South or the West, it breaks better with swell from the South.
This spot can be surfed at any tide, during high tide the rides are longer. It is a right reef break with some hidden rocks in some places. This wave still curls perfectly over the reef with huge swells!
Playa Matapalo is a great wave, and that is why it attracts a lot of surfers! You will never have this spot by yourself. And yes, sometimes it gets crowded in the lineup.
