Playa Zancudo Surf Spot Guide

Hotels close to Playa Zancudo

This small village in the south is well known amongst sport fishermen. It is not a surfer village like Pavones.

"Playa Zancudo" translates to "Mosquito Beach" in English. The name comes from the shape of the land when viewed from above—it resembles a mosquito, with its narrow and winding strip jutting into the Pacific Ocean.

Beyond the literal translation, the name hints at the natural, untouched environment of the area. It reflects the wild, remote character of the beach, which is known for its rustic charm and relative isolation, making it a hidden gem for surfers looking for consistent waves.

Surfing Conditions at Playa Zancudo

The waves break to the left and to the right over a sandy bottom. It is possible to surf here during low and high tide. The waves tend to tube during low tide. During high tide the waves become longer.
