Punta Banco Surf Spot Guide
Punta Banco, located near Pavones in Costa Rica, is a renowned surf spot known for its variety of waves and beautiful setting.
It is often considered a gem in the Central-South Costa Rica surf scene, offering both fun and challenging conditions depending on the day.
The spot's accessibility and diverse wave options make it a great complement to the nearby Pavones, which is famous for one of the longest left-hand waves in the world.
The Waves at Punta Banco
At Punta Banco are several reef breaks with good lefts and rights.
There are not many people here in the water surfing. The waves are best surfed during low upcoming tide.
Like Pavones this break needs swell from the south. So when it is pumping over there, the waves should be good here, too. The bottom is sand with lots of rocks. Waves can get big here and hold swells up to 15 feet.
