Playa Camaronal Surf Spot Guide
This is a nesting beach of the olive ridley turtle.
Other turtle species occasionally come for nesting as well, but in much lower quantities.
Surf Conditions at Playa Camaronal
This beach, located in the Guanacaste region, features a big wave surf spot that can handle swells reaching up to 15 feet. It is the largest wave in the area and stands out compared to other surf spots nearby.
There are good waves at the river mouth and lefts and rights along the beach, the bottom is sandy. This spot can hold huge swells! So if other waves in Guanacaste already close out it is very likely that Playa Camaronal is pumping!
Tides play a key role. Most surfers find low to mid tide is when the break works best. At very high tide, waves may lose shape or power. Check the tide charts when you plan to surf Playa Camaronoal
Playa Camaronal is known for reliable and surfable waves throughout much of the year. The surf can range from chest high to double overhead, depending on swells and weather. Its location south of Samara ensures a quiet atmosphere surrounded by natural beauty.
The best time to come to surf this waves is between December and March. The swell should com from the North and the Northwest.
